The Isle of Anglesey is known as Mon mam Cymru in Welsh, the Mother of Wales. Anglesey has undulating lands, rich pastures and an infinitely varied coastline. When I was a child my parents had a caravan here and I spent fantastic holidays in Anglesey swimming in the sea, playing in the fields, and exploring the castles.
If you are also passionate about history I would be happy to travel with you through prehistory, visiting Iron Age and Celtic sites in an amazing state of conservation, up to the middle ages with the beautiful castle of Beaumaris.
Reasons to visit Anglesey
Anglesey’s coast is incredibly diverse and full of treasures: the Penmon lighthouse and the Puffin Island, an ancient lifeboat in Moelfre, the seabirds flying in the wind around the South Stack lighthouse, beaches that stretch as far as the eye can see. The church of St Dwynwen – the patron saint of Welsh lovers – on an island accessible at low tide and much more.
After a short stop to visit the village station with the longest name in the world, you can go back to the mainland by crossing one of the spectacular bridges connecting it to the island.
